Yay we went to Seattle.
BTW the last post was the 500th post, if the first one is discounted (because the first one was not really a true "post").
And October 28, 2009 was also the FIFTH birthday of this blog. From the days of Blogger (here) to Yahoo Geocities (defunct) and now to my own website hosted on GoDaddy, maintaining this blog has been a fun ride for those five years.
Here's to five more!
Before we start: Lest we forget
Recently I've been finding myself to be increasingly germophobic. It always starts with the little things like washing hands all the time (such as before eating a chocolate bar), cooking the eggs for an extra minute at the expense of a nicely runny yolk, and using the hand sanitizer stations at university (which BTW were installed due to the H1N1 'scare').
Though I never gave it much thought, these germophobic tendencies are something new for me; until recently, I was always a proponent of playin' it dirty and hoping for the best. This probably as a result of visiting Pakistan every four years, where it's difficult to not be filthy all the time! Anyways, here's hoping I don't develop OCD...
Living in Vancouver, one of the more pedestrian and cyclist-friendly cities in Canada (and perhaps, the world?) drives must be very careful of non-motorists on the road. Even as a pedestrian, I've noticed a different attitude from drivers; they are more patient and aware of walkers/cyclists. In Mississauga, Toronto or Hamilton, I'd get honked from cars at when walking into the crosswalk late (as the flashing hand turns orange), but here, drivers would wait for you even if you start crossing when the signal is red!
